Starting September 1, 2026, parents who are caring for a young child while pursuing their studies may apply for a new state social assistance benefit—the Student Parent Benefit, commonly known as the “childcare allowance.”
A parent who is eligible for parental allowance and who personally provides full-time care for the youngest child in the family while pursuing their first full-time degree program at a university or their first full-time degree program at a higher vocational school—either during the standard duration of study or up to one year after its completion—may apply for this benefit.
The benefit amount is one-third of the minimum wage, which is 7,467 CZK per month for 2026. It does not depend on the applicant’s income or that of their household, and the recipient is not required to document how the money was used. Payments are made retroactively, so the first payment will arrive in October; no benefit is payable for July and August. Applications can be submitted online in the Jenda Client Zone or with the assistance of staff at a local office of the Czech Labor Office, along with a confirmation of enrollment from the school.
The system had to be developed, tested, and deployed on a tight schedule so that the Czech Labor Office could begin accepting applications on the very first day it went live. OKsystem’s Development and Services divisions worked together on the deployment in late August, in collaboration with teams from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Czech Labor Office.
