Digitalization isn’t about technology — it’s about people and the courage to change the way we think. That’s what Vojtěch Klimeš, product expert at OKbase, talked about as a guest on the HRko podcast.
According to Klimeš, digitalization in Czech companies is mainly held back by a lack of budget, an unclear vision, and fear of change. Many HR professionals, he adds, perceive digitalization as a threat that could reduce personal contact with people. “It’s actually the opposite,” Klimeš explains. “The goal of digitalization is to free people from routine tasks so they can spend more time working directly with employees.”
Insights from thousands of OKbase system implementations show that the biggest problem usually isn’t the software itself, but rather undefined or unnecessarily complicated processes. Companies often start documenting how they operate only when they begin choosing a new system — and that’s when a long list of requirements emerges, many of which are difficult to implement.
Klimeš advises: simplify first, then digitalize. If a process can’t be simplified by at least ten percent, it’s better not to digitize it at all.

Artificial intelligence is often talked about today, but according to Klimeš, it’s still underused in many cases. Statistics show that only about 20% of companies actively use AI in their HR processes — for example, to create job advertisements. At OKbase, AI is also used for automatic attendance control. It can recognize standard records and flag only deviations, saving up to 90% of managers’ time. This allows them to focus on real issues — such as employees whose work patterns deviate from the norm. This approach not only helps automate routine tasks but also makes it possible to detect early signs of employee dissatisfaction or overload.
Today, digitalization isn’t just about tools — it’s primarily about the ability to connect experience, people, and processes. “We don’t just deliver HR software; we offer comprehensive HR solutions,” says Vojtěch Klimeš. According to him, it’s not just about selling a product, but about helping companies use technology to work more efficiently and support people’s growth.
The topic of digitalization will also be one of the main themes of the HRko 2025 conference, taking place on October 15–16, 2025, at Gong in Ostrava. The OKbase team will present real-world examples and demonstrate how digitalization can be embraced as an opportunity. The program on the OKbase Festival stage will open with a lecture by Vojtěch Klimeš titled Digitalization of HR in the Czech Republic, offering hands-on tips from practice.
Attendees can look forward to real-life experiences, up-to-date data, and insights into the factors shaping the pace of digitalization.
